McKay Used Books in Virginia is where I rediscovered reading and where the romance genre first piqued my interest! During a socially distanced visit to Northern Virginia, Jess and I stopped by McKay’s. We only had 45 minutes or so but I’m pretty happy with what I got. This is one of my better used bookstore hauls.
You Had Me At Hola By Alexis Daria
Avon put their foot in this illustrated cover! I heard Alexis Daria on Smart Podcast, Trashy Books talking about this book and I can’t wait to dig into this romance on the set of a telenovela.
Dare to Love A Duke by Eva Leigh
Another Avon find! Eva Leigh is a favorite around these parts and I’ve heard this book does great work with sex workers. This is #3 in the London Underground series so I’ll need to read the first two before I get to it.
Controlled Burn by Shannon Stacey
I was on the hunt for Boston Fire books because I read Boston Fire #3 for a theme post I’m doing and now I want to read them all. Controlled Burn is #2 and I have #1 on my Kindle so I’m halfway there.
Rough Creek by Kaki Warner
This book was in pristine condition. I’ll be honest, I have no idea what this book is about but for .45 it was a steal, especially considering it came out 3 months ago.
Reverb by Anna Zabo
Jess found this nestled in with the category romances (it’s suddenly occurring to me someone may have been trying to hide it) .I’ve been meaning to finish the Twisted Wishes series forever and now that I know the audio is on Hoopla I can hybrid read them. I’m excited to read because we definitely need more romance with trans mcs on this blog.
Angels and Outlaws by Lori Wilde
What’s a used bookstore visit if you don’t pick up one Harlequin category? Blaze is my favorite line so I picked up this random one by an author I’ve liked in the past. It’s about an detective looking for an amulet the new woman in his life may or may not have stolen.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed
This was a book Jess’ found, this is a Book of The Month Edition–there were actually a lot of recent BOTM editions on a shelf. I wonder if someone’s collection was donated.
