All of the luck in Olive (yes, Olive) Torres’ family has gone to her twin sister, Ami, who managed to win a dream wedding and honeymoon by entering a sweepstakes. But Olive’s luck changes when a shellfish allergy puts the bride and groom out of commission. Now she’s taking her twin sister’s place on the non-refundable honeymoon with the only other food poisoning survivor–the groom’s buffet-phobic brother. They’ve never gotten along but neither is giving up a free Hawaiian vacation.
I read my first Christina Lauren earlier this year and it didn’t 100% work for me but this one worked a thousand times better. It’s a zany, journey of a rom com with a slow burn romance at the core. I wasn’t sure if I’d be sold on why these two went on a fake honeymoon but they made it work.
This does include my least favorite version of enemies to lovers. I get frustrated when two characters are enemies because of a misunderstanding that can be resolved if they talk to each other.
I did this mostly on audio and enjoyed Cynthia Farrell’s riotous narration on the audiobook, she’s got quite a few books to her name so I’ll be adding her to my list of narrators.
